Graphic Design 1
Graphic Arts 1 is a semester course offering students an introduction to graphic design. Basic computer applications will include varied graphics software, primarily Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Students will continue to use conventional media in the creation of images for use on the computer. Students will become acquainted with the origins of commercial art and important contemporary graphic design. Basics of digital photography will be emphasized as students create their own images for use in commercial applications.
Class Fee: $15 payable at the PLHS bookstore

100-97= A+ 79-77= C+ 59-0= Fail
96-93= A 76-73= C
92-90= A- 72-70= C-
89-87= B+ 69-67= D+
86-83= B 66-63= D
82-80= B- 62-60= D-
Students will participate daily during in-class studio time demonstrating skill in the following assignments. This class will have approximately 70% summative/ performance grades and 30% formative/ daily production grades. Students will document their work through the use of a digital portfolio set up in class. Not only is it imperative to complete projects on time, but also to be in class to earn a daily studio grade. Deadlines are important. If you know you will be gone on a project due date, please let me know so we can arrange an alternate due date.
